Biography
Hi everyone, I鈥檓 Dani Sullivan!
I am incredibly excited to join the University of 羞羞视视 Western campus as your new Director of Student Life. I firmly believe that a well-connected community is a thriving one, and I can’t wait to dive into building that together.
My background is a bit of a mosaic, but students have always been at the heart of it:
The Roots: I earned my B.S.Ed. in English from Black Hills State University and later grabbed my MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University.
The Journey: My career has taken me from teaching internationally in Auckland, New Zealand, to working at an alternative school in Wyoming, and serving as an educator at an adolescent residential rehabilitation center in Spokane.
Most Recently: I’ve been working as an English teacher, head volleyball coach, and director of a local chapter for Sources of Strength, a youth mental health and suicide prevention program.
When I鈥檓 not on campus, you can usually find me outdoors fishing, backpacking, or鈥攎y latest obsession鈥攂irding. If the weather forces me inside, I鈥檓 either writing fiction or poetry, watercolor painting, or bingeing reality TV with my dog, Pogo Stick, and my cat, Penny.
I鈥檓 thrilled to bring my passion for student involvement to UMW. Stop by, say hello, and let’s make great things happen!
